Student Community Service
Students who need community service hours for school may be able to complete approved projects in support of the shelter.
At this time, minors are not permitted to complete hours on-site, but project-based service may be accepted and signed off upon review.
Possible Project Ideas
- Donation drives using our Shelter Needs List.
- Pet Toy Projects
- Handmade items that benefit the animals.
How It Works
- Contact the shelter before beginning
- Receive approval for the project
- Complete the project independently
- Submit proof of completion (if applicable)
- Approved hours will be signed off accordingly.
Court-Ordered Community Service
Basic Eligibility
- Must be age 18 or older
- Must be able to follow staff instruction and shelter policies
- Must be willing to work (i.e. cleaning, organizing, etc.)
Restrictions
- We do not accept any violent offenses.
- We do not accept any animal-related offenses.
- Additional restrictions may apply depending on the circumstances.
How to Begin

Have the following info:
- Your Name
- Hours Needed
- Offense (e.g. saying “it’s for court” is not an acceptable response)
- The deadline

Begin working
Wear clothes you don’t mind getting dirty or wet. Clothing must be protective of your arms and legs; be sure to wear non-slip sneakers.
We do not schedule community service. You are responsible for completing your hours prior to your deadline.

Documentation
Once completed, you will receive a copy of your logged hours alongside a signed letter from the shelter stating you’ve completed your hours.
